What is Hypnotherapy?

Clinical Hypnotherapy is the term used to describe the use of hypnosis as a tool in the treatment of many conditions and issues.  It is a safe and non-invasive therapy which enables direct access to the subconscious mind, the source of all emotional, habitual and psychological behaviour.

Contrary to what some people believe, a person cannot be hypnotised without their consent and cooperation.  Hypnotherapy is a two way process between the therapist and the client and although the actual state of Hypnosis is induced by the therapist through verbal suggestion, the client must willingly accept and follow these suggestions in order to enter an altered state of awareness.

In essence all Hypnosis is self Hypnosis.  The therapist simply guides you through the process.

Whilst hypnotised, you cannot be made to do anything that you don’t want to do. The people you see on television eating raw onions, walking like a duck, or pretending to be Madonna are doing it because they want to.  These people have chosen to participate in a show and have chosen to follow the suggestions made by the Hypnotist.

Hypnotherapy is not for entertainment.  It is by definition - Therapeutic.

In a Therapeutic setting, hypnosis is induced by the therapist and the client is guided into a state where both the body and mind become calm and relaxed.  In this state of relaxation, the conscious mind becomes less active and is essentially by-passed as the subconscious mind becomes open and receptive to positive suggestion and reinforcement.

During Hypnosis positive suggestions are integrated much more significantly than is possible while the conscious mind is alert.  By achieving a state of heightened focus and awareness, and by suppressing the analytical conscious mind, positive suggestions can be implanted directly into the subconscious mind.

It is through this process that the subconscious belief systems, which govern our conscious decisions and behaviour, can be changed, enabling a much more positive and healthy outlook and subsequently, a much happier life.

Hypnotherapy can help you make the changes you desire, you simply need to make the decision to change...
